Find more on: FabrizioFusco.com - Nutrition Coaching What we put in our body really matters. You may be fooled by the food industry to think that junk food is not going to affect your health that much. But think twice. You can heal your body with nutrition. We are not deficient in a prescription drug, we are deficient in vitamins and minerals. What is natural healing? Natural healing is all about cleaning up
and detoxifying the body in order to
create the right environment for it to
 thrive. Healing requires time because
of the toxins, parasites and damages to
our cells accumulated in the entire life. However, I think it's just amazing how we ruin our body for a lifetime and then how it can heal completely in just a couple of years. Health begins with what we eliminate from our diet, not with what we add. The first step in recovery and healing is to completely remove harmful foods. Only then we can think to add healthy foods filled with vitamins and minerals that promote our health. Check out my online healthy food & supplements store to find out a list of healthy foods and supplements that I recommend. “Within each of us there's a spark that can light the way to health. There are no incurable diseases, only incurable people.” – Bernie Siegel, MD “Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.” – Bethenny Frankel “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates Why is it so hard to change? A lot of people that don't want to take responsibility for their health say “You are going to die anyway”. They also say “I don't want to restrict or limit my life. I want to experience everything.” It may be true but quality aging is what you are striving for, so that you don't depend on dozens of medications, crumble in pain, lose your mental faculties. Eating junk food and abusing alcohol is simply an addiction. It is the first thought that comes in our mind because it brings a sensation of relief. However, an addiction means getting involved in a habitual activity (e.g., gambling, sex, shopping, self injury) or use of a substance (e.g., alcohol, junk food, prescription drugs, nicotine, cocaine) that a person seeks out in order to feel relief, but which has more control over a person than a person has over it. In other words, despite of the initial relief there are adverse consequences in the long term. Indeed, an addiction interferes with ordinary life responsibilities, such as work, relationships, or health. There are two triggers for change: either you learn enough that you want to, or you hit rock bottom and you have to. The choice to be healthy is something you need to think about as soon as you are a child, not just when you develop a chronic disease. Indeed, the more your body is toxic the longer it takes to detoxify. You have to take responsibility that health is a choice. Taking prescription drugs is just a mean to cover the symptoms and continue with a wrong lifestyle. But if your body develops a symptom you'd better listen to it instead of covering it. What can I eat instead of bread and pasta? Instead of pasta you can eat gluten free grains (basmati brown rice, millet, buckwheat, ...) or legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, ...). Instead of bread you can buy flours made with gluten free grains, legumes or nuts and easily make your own bread. Check out my online healthy food store to find out a list of healthy foods that I recommend. 2. What can I eat to sweeten food and for breakfast? Sugar and sweets are absolutely not allowed in the Anti-Candida diet. Breakfast is a meal like the others so you can eat the same things as lunch and dinner. However, if you're used to eat biscuits you can easily do them at home with the allowed flours. To sweeten the food, you can use chestnut flour, cashew nuts or fruit (observing the limit of 3-4 fruits per day) that are naturally sweet. Once in a while it may be fine to use the natural sweetener Stevia. Again, check out my online healthy food store to find out my recommendations. 3. What if I cheat sometimes? How to face social events? If you really need to eat out do the best you can do. Lots of healthy restaurants are growing around the world. Most of them are raw vegan restaurants. Make a research on Google to find them in your local area. If you need to go to a traditional restaurant try to avoid at least the worst foods and limit all the others. Sometimes, for example if you travel often, you have no alternatives. If you are healthy your body can handle and filter harmful food once in a while. However, if you have an autoimmune disease, try to avoid eating out at all costs. Yes, it's true, it requires tenacity and discipline and the acknowledgement that health is a choice. 4. Can I come back to the old diet when I become asymptomatic? You are a free being. You can do whatever you want. But if you want to stay healthy then, no, you can't. Being asymptomatic is when you start a deep repair so it is the moment you want to stick to the diet the most. 5. Do I always have to prepare my own food? Unless there are healthy restaurants in your local area, yes you have to always prepare your own food. There's no way around. You have to take the time to prepare at home all your food. You can't buy any kind of processed food or fast-food. However, of course, there are also lots of foods in their natural state that are already ready to be eaten as they are: fruit, nuts, seeds and vegetables. 6. Should I use non-stick pans? Yes, it's preferable to use nonstick pans. However, use nonstick stone cookware because traditional nonstick leave toxic substances in the food when used at high temperatures (above 260 °C). 7. What is the recommended temperature to cook food in oven? Do not cook at a temperature too high since it can cause the leakage of toxic substances from the parchment paper. Another reason is that the food is cooked externally but remains raw on the inside. For an even and safe cooking the recommended temperature is 200 °C. Health is a choice The power to heal your body lies within you. Food and supplements are the fuel your body needs to sustain vitality. Make sure they are natural, clean and pure. In my FREE e-book “DNA Is Not Your Destiny” I explain why you are not victim of your genes. You are the master of your destiny. So now, it's your choice. Oh dear. Oh dear dear dear. No garlic–can we still be friends? (Oh wait, we weren't friends, but I kind of imagined we could be; although to be honest many of my “we could be friends” fantasies continue to focus on Michelle Obama. I bet she puts garlic in her guacamole. I know her husband disapproves of peas in guacamole. In my fantasies, Michelle and I often discuss our husbands' food preferences.)
These are what I always wanted when I went for a Rice Crispy Treat but was always disappointed with the regular recipe. I can't even begin to explain how perfect these are. It is taking all my self restraint to not polish off the pan by myself.
Softened [or even cool] butter will create air pockets in the dough/batter as it cooks, due to the evaporating water content. Melted butter works the same as oil in a recipe like this, making it denser and chewier because it contributes to gluten development.
